Taiwan split two preliminary games in the Asian Championship for Women, routing Malaysia as expected and losing to host South Korea -- also as expected.

Taiwan led briefly but was stunned by South Korea's 13-0 run in the third quarter and never recovered. Liu Chun-yi led the team with 18 points while Chiang Feng-chun had 12.

South Korea was led by Beon Yeong-ha's 20 points. 202cm center Ha Eun-joo, the elder sister of former NBA player Ha Seung-jin, had 19 points. Park Jun-eun had 14 points and 7 rebounds and former WNBA forward Jung Sun-min collected 8 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists.
