Taiwan U18 women’s NT lost to South Korea 61-42 in the bronze medal game of the 2012 FIBA Asia U18 Women’s Championship in Johor Bahru, Malaysia yesterday and failed to win a ticket to the World Championship.
Taiwan defeated South Korea 88-71 in its last preliminary game, but the team obviously was still in a slump yesterday after suffering a 113-55 defeat against Japan in the semifinal.
With experiences at the U16 and U18 Asian championship as well as the U19 World Championship, 180cm versatile forward Lin Yu-ting will be Taiwan NT’s leader at the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women at Johor Baru, Malaysia.
Lin will be one of the few players who was able to participate in two U18 Asia events because she made the NT roster at a very young age.
And her goal would be the same -- making the medal round and win an opportunity for a berth in the World Championship in Lithuania next year.

ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia (22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship): The schedule of games for the Preliminary Round competition at the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship to be played in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) from Aug 17-26 has been announced.

Philippine center Marcus Douthit was unstoppable. The naturalized center had 37 points and 10 rebounds as Philippines rallied in the second half to beat Taiwan 95-78 in the quarterfinal of the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men and advanced to the semifinals.

Chou was not happy with Taiwan NT's rebounding effort in the first three games, saying that it would be an important factor in the next round.
Omar Salem led Qatar with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Erfan Ali Saeed had 19 and 13 while Abdulrahman Saad chipped in 18 and 10.

For 26 minutes, Taiwan NT played solid defense against Iran and was on the verge of pulling off a big upset in Wuhan. However, Samad Bahrami came to the rescue and Taiwan NT went out of synch in the last 14 minutes, ending up with a 12-point loss.
Taiwan was able to stay with the Iranians early as both sides couldn't seem to find the basket and Taiwan playing aggressive and tenacious defense against its opponents, especially 7-2 center Hamed Haddadi.
Taiwan used speed to its advantage in an 11-1 run in the third quarter to make the score 30-20. With 2:08 left in the quarter, Haddadi, who finished with eight points and 18 rebounds, was out of the game after committing his fourth foul.
