The 2012 Straits Cup basketball tournament will take place from Oct. 12-14 in Taipei and the central city of Taichung with four teams from Taiwan and China competing in the annual cross-strait tourney.
Shanghai Dongfang Sharks, Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank of the Chinese pro league CBA will match up against a pair of home teams -- defending SBL champion Pure Youth Construction and Dacin Tigers, the runner-up last season -- in the three-day tourney.
Former NBA Houston Rockets star center Yao Ming will visit Taiwan as Shanghai owner.
Four popular Taiwanese players will represent different teams as Tseng Wen-ting will play for Shanghai and Lin Chih-chieh plays for Zhejiang. Chen Hsin-an leads Pure Youth while Tien Lei represents Dacin.
