ABA (Asian Basketball Association) president Cheng Man-kee, who also heads the ABC, confirmed that four teams from China and Taiwan will participate in the 2001 ABA Taipei Round in September 12-14.
Cheng said a total of eight teams, including Beijing Shogang and Shanghai Sharks of China, Dacin Construction and Yulon Dinos of Taiwan, Samsung Thunders of Korea, Isuzu Gigacats of Japan, Laguna Lakers of Philippines and Hong-yuan of Hong Kong, will play in this year's ABA season, which is comprised of rounds in different Asian cities. The Taipei round features a single round robin format and will be held in Taipei Physical Education College Gymnasium.
