Jones Cup notes

-- To parents, friends and fans of players' from all visiting teams who sent emails: I will try to do my best to cover the Jones Cup as I have been doing in the past few years. But there is no guarantee because I have a day job and may not be able to write about the games daily in a timely fashion.

-- ESPN Taiwan will broadcast the tournament and in most Southeast Asian countries fans should be able to watch the games. It looks to me there is no free online broadcast this year.

-- The official web site of the Jones Cup is at http://30thjonescup.bros.com.tw/, which is pretty bad. It seems to me you can neither find game stats and boxscores nor player roster on the site. So what kind of OFFICIAL website is that?

  1. Thanks for your work on the Jones Cup. Is there a good English language source for the history of the Cup?

  2. Thankyou,
I'm looking for stats on each game live would be great but follow up is better than nothing.
My son is on the Australian team, is there any video footage?

  4. I don't think the organizers will publish boxscores on the website. We'll see.

  5. Hi Chris,
For a young team Australia seem to be doing OK What are the coaches of the other teams saying?

  6. AIA coach Dave Bliss did recognize that this Australia team is one of the best in the world at their age group.

I don't know what other coaches said but I agree with you. This young Aussie team hustled from start to finish and except for the last 20 minutes vs. AIA, they were always in the game.

However, I think this yeart's U-19 team is weaker at the center position. They used to have A.J. Ogilvy...Matthew Dellavedova is good though.
